Alain Josseau: War Vision Machines (Le Garric, France)

Beginning on 25 November 2010, French artist Alain Josseau presents some of his fascinating installations in the exhibition “War Vision Machines” in Le Garric, France. His works always address our and the media’s perception of major events such as wars.

Alain Josseau: War Machine #2

Alain Josseau, born in 1968 in Nantes, France, uses images from the media, from movies or computer games to deal with the media’s manipulation of events such as 9/11 or wars. Besides paintings, he often films complex dioramas: the result may resemble a historical movie or a screen record, but what we see is not “reality”, but just another effigy.

The exhibition venue is far from being central: Le Garric is a place in the Département Tarn in the region Midi-Pyrénées in the Southwest of France. The marvellous works, however, are well worth seeing.

Alain Josseau is represented by the gallery Sollertis in Toulouse; its artists and excellent expositions often address political issues and war.
