Recently, a good friend of mine sent me a link to the following picture by Toru Hanai (Reuters) on the website of the German news magazine SPIEGEL. It has already been published on January 1st with the almost dreamlike caption “Bundle of Soldiers” (German: “Soldatenbündel”).
Admittedly, it is no art per se, but “just” a news photo – but one could not have imagined it better: a handfull soldiers of the Japanese elf Defence Forces are roping down from a helicopter during a military exercise in Narashino. While they cover each other, demonstrating their combat strength, they simultaneously appear to be quite helpless and vulnerable. In any case, King Kong would have had his fun with this ensemble.
